Sharon X. Aguilera serves as the lead of our real estate practice at Gentium Law Group, LLC. With a distinguished career spanning over 15 years, Ms. Aguilera's expertise extends to representing a diverse array of clients in both commercial and residential real estate transactions. Her comprehensive experience includes advocacy for sellers and buyers, as well as legal support for landlords, tenants, and borrowers involved in residential mortgage foreclosure proceedings.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Aguilera embarked on her legal career by joining a law firm where she conducted extensive research on patent and civil law issues. Her responsibilities included preparing comprehensive legal memoranda on these matters.
Ms. Aguilera’s legal prowess extends beyond traditional representation, making her a go-to resource for clients with unique housing needs. Notably, she has represented clients pre-qualified with the City of Chicago, including the Chicago Housing Trust, in their quest for affordable neighborhood housing solutions. In addition to her work with the Northside Community Development Corporation, Ms. Aguilera’s unwavering commitment to excellence in real estate law consistently yields successful outcomes for her diverse clientele.
In addition to her legal practice, from 2002 to 2011, Ms. Aguilera served as a legal volunteer for the Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers (CLAIM). In this role, she provided essential legal and educational services to incarcerated mothers, focusing on maintaining the vital bond between these mothers and their children. Her efforts supported and empowered incarcerated mothers as they transitioned back into the community. She was also an advocate for change, actively discussing and sharing information on local and national issues impacting the prison system and social justice movements. Her work at CLAIM allowed her to build skills and competence, promote change in state practices, and break down stereotypes surrounding incarcerated women.
Ms. Aguilera currently serves as a Board of Director for the Spanish Coalition for Housing, an organization dedicated to providing housing solutions and support to the community. Furthermore, Ms. Aguilera is the Illinois REALTOR®'s state legislative contact for Illinois House of Representatives 2nd District, Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, where she actively participates in legislative initiatives that impact real estate and housing.
